The Church is dedicated to a Roman Catholic priest martyred in 1539. As Abbot he refused to surrender Reading Abbey.
The church was refurbished and reordered in 2007 following the closure of St George’s Church Buckland in 2005 (which now serves as a private chapel to Buckland House).
