Nettlebed : St Bartholomew

This church is situated in attractive wooded countryside of the Chilterns on high land in the village of Nettlebed on the Henley on Thames to Wallingford road. It replaced an earlier church on the site, and was completed in 1846.

About this church

The church designed by J.H. Hakewill of London, is a plain structure of grey and red brick, with stone dressings and slate roofs.

It comprises a 4-bay nave, with south aisle, 2-bay chancel, vestry to south and west tower Early English style and a gabled south porch.

There is a brass memorial plate of 1637 and good C18 stone memorials in the south aisle.
