Neither the Trust nor its Area Representatives can offer formal advice or accept any responsibility for suggestions made in informal consultations, but many of the Area Representatives do have experience gained over a number of years and will be happy to discuss projects. They may also be able to put you in touch with other churches with similar projects, it being clearly understood that there is no substitute for professional advice.
You may also like to get hold of a copy of the book by Becky Payne which we published in 2014 “Churches for Communities – Adapting Oxfordshire’s Churches for Wider Use” . This recounts the experiences of 25 churches carrying out significant projects in recent years. The book is available through Central Books and Amazon
There are many sources of advice about building restoration and fund raising, and convenient directories to most of them can be found on the Web at www.buildingconservation.com, at www.ffhb.org.uk or the Your Church Building pages on the Exeter Diocese website.(www.exeter.anglican.org) Another very helpful site, sponsored by the Ecclesiastical Insurance Company, is www.churchcare.co.uk.
