The Earl and Countess of Wessex delighted members of the Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust (OHCT) by joining them at a service in Dorchester Abbey to celebrate the organisation’s 50th anniversary.

“The OHCT works hard to help preserve some of what we believe to be some of the finest buildings in England. We are thrilled that The Earl and Countess have chosen to support us,” said Richard Lethbridge, President.

Their Royal Highnesses took the opportunity to meet participants in the OHCT’s annual Ride and Stride fundraising event, a sponsored bike ride or walk in which people from all over the county walk or cycle between as many churches as they can in one day. Last year Striders raised over £127,000.

The Royal couple took time to chat to some of the Ride and Stride’s most dedicated supporters including Gillian Hood from Headington Quarry who has been taking part for the past 6 years, covering around 600 miles in that time.

“They are just so lovely and normal” said Gillian of the Royal Couple. “They seemed so genuinely keen and interested in what we are doing for Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust. They have certainly spurred me on for the next ‘Ride and Stride’ in September.” she said.

Amongst the hundreds of Ride and Stride supporters the Royal Couple met were mother and daughter Jean Williamson and Vanessa Wodward from Bayworth Baptist Chapel in Sunningwell, who described meeting the couple as “an absolute delight”.

The Earl of Wessex, who has recently celebrated his own 50th birthday, was invited to cut a celebratory cake designed in the form of a bicycle. Robin Fieth from Pyrton who raised £2,675.75 in 2011 by cycling 90 miles round 71 churches, then presented him with a specially commissioned 50th anniversary mug.

Chloe Bramwell who is eleven and from Shippon, has been taking part in the Ride and Stride since she was six. She presented The Countess of Wessex with a posy of spring flowers.

Abingdon based Jeanette Thomas, who helps to organize Oxfordshire’s Ride and Stride said, “It was wonderful to meet The Earl and Countess and to have their support. The Ride and Stride is great fun and we want as many people to participate and know about it as possible – who knows next year they might even join in!”

As they left the Abbey The Earl and Countess of Wessex chatted with a guard of honour of Ride and Stride cyclists. The Countess then spent some time talking to 3 year old Sophia Aitken and her mother Tara from Witney. “Sophia has a serious disability” her mother explained, “We came down for her physiotherapy session but all she wanted to do was see a real princess. The Countess was so lovely and chatted to her for quite a while, Sophia will remember today forever.”

How to View and order Pictures from OHCT Dorchester Event

The gallery of all the pictures taken is here http://weddingsbynicolaandglen.queensberryworkspace.com/

Click on the first thumbnail and enter the password abbey. You will then enter the full gallery with all the images from the event.

At the top of the gallery you will see various icons to help you navigate around your gallery. The Shopping Cart icon will take you to the options to download, order prints or products and view your shopping cart.

When you enter the gallery you will automatically view the images in a grid format. To enlarge an image you need to hover your cursor over the image and click on the middle of the image. From here you can manually scroll through each image by clicking on the left or right hand side of the photo.

If you click the play button icon at the top right hand side of the page you can view your images as a slide show. This button will then change to a grid icon which will allow you to revert to the original thumbnail gallery view.

If you click on the icon at the top right hand corner you will have the option to share your gallery via email or social media. Remember to include your gallery password when sharing your images.

Should you wish to purchase any of the images there are several options for you to choose from. Images ordered for print or download will not show our logo on the image as seen in the previews.

How to download for print or social media

-Make sure you are viewing the gallery in the grid format.
-To select an image for download simply hover over the photo and you will see a grey circle appear in the top left hand side. Click on the circle and you will see a tick appear. You can select multiple images using this process.
-Click on the shopping cart icon and click ‘BUY SELECTED PHOTOS’.
-Select your country and currency and click ‘NEXT’.
-Select the download option on the left. You will then have the option to choose between either Digital Download – Social Media Size or Digital Download – Full Size.

If you would like to print the image at any stage select the Full Size option. If you wish to only share the image on social media or your digital device then select Social Media Size.

-Click the ‘+ADD TO CART’ button.
You will receive a pop up message saying ‘The products you’ve chosen have been added to your cart’.
-Click ‘CONTINUE SHOPPING’ to add more photos to your download order or click ‘GO TO CHECKOUT’ to complete your order.
If you clicked ‘CONTINUE SHOPPING’ you will return to the gallery page where you can select and add add more photos to your order by following the same process.
Once you’ve clicked ‘GO TO CHECKOUT’ you will see a summary of your order. Here you select the number of copies you require (for downloads this will be 1) and you will see your total charge change accordingly. When you are happy with your order summary click ‘NEXT – ENTER YOUR DETAILS’
-Complete all your details on the left hand side.
– Click ‘CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT’
You will now see you order details and shipping information.
-Once you have checked all the information shown is correct click ‘PROCESS PAYMENT’
-Follow the onscreen instructions to pay for your order either through your PayPal account or using a debit/credit card.

You will shortly receive two emails to the address you entered earlier, the first confirming your download order details and the second email will contain a link for you to download your photos.
-Open email and click on your download link. The files will download as a ZIP file.

Printing & Copyright:

Your photographs are subject to copyright. Any images you purchase through the gallery enable you to print and share the images as you wish. However no image can be sold for economic gain, any such enquiries must be directed back to us. When sharing images on Facebook we would appreciate linking back to our website www.weddingsbynicolaandglen.com for copyright purposes.

For your convenience and to ensure the best quality you have the option to order prints directly from your online gallery using our printers and these can be paid for online and shipped to almost anywhere in the world. Anyone accessing the gallery can also order prints. For their convenience we would recommend that you copy and paste the instructions below when sharing your images with them.

How To Order Prints:

-Select the size(s) you want the selected photo to be printed at and how many copies you would like to order.
-Click the ‘+ADD TO CART’ button.

You will receive a pop up message saying ‘The products you’ve chosen have been added to your cart’.
-Click ‘CONTINUE SHOPPING’ to add more photos to your print order or click ‘GO TO CHECKOUT’ to complete your order.

If you clicked ‘CONTINUE SHOPPING’ you will return to the gallery page where you can select and add add more photos to your order by following following the same process.

Once you’ve clicked ‘GO TO CHECKOUT’ you will see a summary of your order where you can amend the number of copies ordered per image and crop the print area of each photo if desired.
-When you are happy with your order summary click ‘NEXT – ENTER YOUR DETAILS’
-Complete all your details on the left hand side.
– Click ‘CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT’
