Oxford : Rose Hill Methodist Church

This small stone and brick built chapel was founded in 1835.

About this church

Henry Leake personally purchased the site and paid for the construction of the chapel. This small stone building has been altered and extended over the years. The chancel was added in 1940-1 and community facilities were added to the rear of the church in 1957. The graveyard was extended in 1868 and was closed in 1963. The organ is older than the church and was originally in St. Mary’s Iffley Parish Church before it was sold to Paradise Square Baptist Church in 1875, then later moved to Rose Hill Methodist Church. The stained glass windows are memorial gifts.
