Spring Church Tour

We shall gather at St Mary the Virgin, Witney for a 10:00 am start.  There is some parking available around  the Green, and plenty more a short walk from the church in Sainsbury’s carpark (entrance OX28 4BE).  We shall have a guided tour of the church by Richard Young (author of their new guide) before moving to Ducklington for coffee and to see St Bartholomew’s.  Lunch will be at “The Bell”, adjacent to the church; then on to St James the Great, South Leigh, with its impressive wall paintings and finally to Cogges on the edge of Witney.  After seeing the church there, it should be possible to end the day with a cup of tea.  Our guide at the three churches after Witney will be the Diocesan Archaeological Adviser, Julian Munby FSA.
