Christianity in the Middle East: Reasons for Hope & Despair

2nd July 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

£20.00

Christianity in the Middle East: Reasons for Hope & Despair Wolfson Lecture by Gerard Russell MBE

Our Chairman writes: our lecturer Gerard Russell is now a writer and strategic consultant but was formerly a colleague of mine in the Diplomatic Service. He speaks Arabic and Dari and has lived and worked in Cairo, Jerusalem, Baghdad, Kabul, and Jeddah. In 2014 to critical acclaim he published Heirs to Forgotten Kingdoms; Journeys into the Disappearing Religions of the Middle East. I am sure that he will be happy to answer questions about the Yazidis, Mandaeans or Samaritans but for his talk he has chosen the title “Christianity in the Middle East: Reasons for Hope and Despair” . Sadly it is a very topical subject and I am sure that it will be a fascinating evening
The lecture will be followed by a reception. If the weather is fine I hope we can be down on the lawns by the river. That should be quite lovely. The lecture itself, however, will be the main attraction.
