Trust to continue to support the fabric of our historic churches

At Council’s final meeting for the financial year 2019-20, a sum totalling £60,000 was awarded to four churches. In addition a sum of just over £11,000 was provided for roof alarm grants.

St Helen’s Church, Dry Sandford received a grant of £20,000 to cover emergency stabilisation work. Members may be aware that the church is currently closed because of its unsafe condition. The estimated full cost of repair is in the region of £282,000 and a major fundraising campaign is under way to raise the necessary funds.

Our Lady and St John’s Church, Goring-on-Thames also received £20,000 to fund community facilities at the church.

The ancient church of St Nicholas at Old Marston received a grant of £10,000 to facilitate some internal improvements and reordering. The Church of St Mary the Virgin at Charlbury also received a grant of £10,000 for repairs and maintenance works.
