David writes:
“This year’s autumn tours are to two Grade I and two Grade II* listed churches in the Churn Benefice under the Berkshire Downs. As usual, the repeats of the tour will take place on the Friday and the Saturday: this booking page is for Friday September 20th only. (Go back to ‘Events’ for the separate page for the Saturday tour.)
“Churn Knob marks the start of the St Birinus pilgrimage walk to Dorchester. For those who felt the spring tour was a bit of a gallop, I am allowing more time to absorb these remarkable buildings. No pilgrimage walk I am afraid! That means a slightly earlier start than usual with coffee at 9:30am at St Mary the Virgin, Upton. We shall move on to see St Michael’s, Aston Tirrold; All Saints’, North Moreton; and St Michael and All Angels, Blewbury.
“Our pub lunch is yet to be arranged, but will probably be at North Moreton. As usual, the food is included in the ticket price, and detailed arrangements will be confirmed a week in advance to those who have booked.”
