Tour of the University Church, Oxford

July 9 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Free

Our long-standing Council Member, Joanna Karmowska, has kindly arranged a late afternoon guided tour of St Mary The Virgin Church, the University Church, in the centre of Oxford. This Oxford landmark is an outstandingly beautiful building (it is Grade I listed), and, of course, it is steeped in history – not least, in 1555/6, the trials of Latimer, Ridley and Cranmer; and then the influence of Archbishop Laud who commissioned the new South Porch (controversially “Roman Catholic” in its design).  Our guide will be the Vicar, William Lamb. The church is kindly offering us a glass of wine after the tour.

For those who are able to stay on, there will be Sung Compline at 8:00 pm.

Please aim to arrive inside the church around 4:45 pm.
