Come and Bike with the Bishop!

Uffington, St Mary

Bishop Colin and I would be delighted if others wish to join us for our planned cycle route for this year’s Ride and Stride on Saturday 13 September. Our route will take us round some of the lovely churches of the Vale of the White Horse. It’s wonderful countryside and it should be a pleasant ride of about 25 miles with a ten minute break in each church.

The Vale of the White Horse has recently been added to Bishop Colin’s episcopal area, so he wants to meet as many people as possible. Many of the churches have received grants for repairs from the Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust, and I will want to see what has been done or is planned. Do join us for all or part of the day. It should be good fun.

We aim to leave St Mary’s, Uffington at 10.00am;
St Nicholas, Baulking at 10.20am
All Saints Chapel, Goosey at 10.50am
St Denys, Stanford-in-the-Vale at 11.20am
St George, Hatford at 11.40am
St Faith, Shellingford at 12.00pm
St John, Fernham at 12.25pm
Methodist Chapel, Longcot at 12.45pm
St Mary, Longcot at 12.55pm
We plan to be in the King & Queen pub in Longcot (01793 784 348) sampling their baguettes from 1pm. If you aim to join us there you should probably order your baguette (or other food) in advance. At 2pm we set off for
St Thomas, Watchfield. We will leave there at 2.15pm
St Andrew, Shrivenham at 2.45pm
The Methodist Chapel, Shrivenham at 3.00pm
All Saints, Woolstone at 3.40pm
and finally return to St Mary’s , Uffington at 3.55pm

It is not essential but if you are joining us it would be a kindness if you could tell our local organisers in advance. They are Diane and Dennis Blease ([email protected])
