The Revival Project came to a climax in September with the completion of a major refurbishment, a rededication service led by the Bishop of Dorchester, and a Thanksgiving Reception to the donors and Grant Funders who made this Project possible. Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust was among the benefactors towards a goal of £660,000.
Its solid four-square columns and decorated chancel are complemented by a new stone floor, with light flooding in from the northern windows, giving an air of spaciousness and fine proportion. New lighting, heating, and an extra toilet make the whole building a pleasure to visit.
The success of the Revival Project in making St Mary’s a more welcoming place of worship and meeting the wider needs of the community is born out in a burst of activity this autumn, with a packed out Clubs and Societies Fair, a host of concerts and staged productions and regular meetings for Brownies, Guides, and other local groups.
